I have been in Vancouver and Whistler for a few days speaking and promoting my new book. Coming from the East this means jetlag in the form of VERY EARLY mornings. This time I decided to shift my perspective and look at the jetlag as a gift. The results were astounding.
Thanks to jetlag I was able to experience the following blessings:
- During the first day (at 5:30am) I enjoyed a gorgeous walk along the seawall in Vancouver and was graced by a visit of a Great Blue Heron. It landed about 10 feet away from me and spent almost 10 minutes looking about majestically. It was never afraid of me. I also had the opportunity to dip my toe into the Pacific Ocean and get a long-overdue dose of clean ocean air.
- On the second morning (at 6am) I enjoyed a rainy walk at Kits Beach. Most people don't like the rain but I happened to notice that the rain seemed to activate all of the amazing scents from the myriad of blossoms that lined the beach.
- On my third morning, I was blessed with another rainy walk through a cedar forest in Whistler. There is nothing more comforting that the fresh fragrance of cedar just after the rain. The mist is saturated with the smell.
Thanks to jetlag I was also able to take some very precious time for myself before my speaking or promoting. As a result I was able to give myself more fully and be completely present thus increasing the value I added to other. It seems, for me, that jetlag was EXACTLY what I needed. Thank you jet lag!
